HSU Representation at NABPR, AMGP, and BHHS Conferences

The combined annual meetings of three national academic guilds convened May 20-22, 2024, in Raleigh, North Carolina.  The First Baptist Church of Raleigh hosted the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion (NABPR), the Association of Ministry Guidance Professionals (AMGP), and the Baptist History and Heritage Society (BHHS).

Hardin-Simmons University/Logsdon School of Theology had representation at the joint conferences of NABPR, AMGP, and BHHS.  The academic sessions, faculty interchange, and business sessions of AMGP were attended by the Associate Dean of the Logsdon School of Theology, Dr. Jacob West ’04/’07/’13.  Similar events of NABPR were led by the National Executive Secretary and Treasurer, Adam English ’96 who is also the Chair of the Department of Christian Studies at Campbell University.  Plus, the NABPR presented a Festschrift to Bill Leonard entitled Why Study Baptists, which contained a sermonic chapter by the Executive Director of Baptist Women in Ministry, Meredith Stone ’01/’06

The combined meetings concluded with a plenary session about preparing students for ministry with one of the four panelists being Jack Bodenhamer ’08, who is the Assistant Dean of External Affairs for Baylor’s Truett Theological Seminary.  Also, serving on the NABPR Executive Council was Dr. Larry McGraw, Associate Dean of the Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts at HSU.

The next joint annual conference will be held May 19-21, 2025, at Baylor University.
